The School of Art and Design at the University of Bedfordshire will be hosting the first Design Festival Luton and Beds on 1st December 2016.
The festival will celebrate design disciplines across the county. Under the concept of Local Cosmopolitanism, designers from schools, colleges and the University of Bedfordshire, to practicing local designers with established practices, will showcase work to promote the cultural richness Bedfordshire has to offer.
Held in the historic Alexon House building in Luton, the one-day event will invite design works from designers of all ages to be showcased in an exhibition. The event will be open to the public and can offer an insight into local design. The festival will also invite attendees to sign up to a number of workshops throughout the day to give a taster to different practices. The workshops will be an introduction to drawing, screen-printing, digital (introduction to website design) as well as 3D printing and laser cutting. The day will be supported by a series of industry talks and a design competition.
